I have &lt;A HREF="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5207" REL="nofollow"&gt;CS lite&lt;/A&gt; installed and I had to first enable cookies globally with it before your cookies would load. I don't think even prevalent use of opt-out cookies will stop the arms race, there are just too many interested parties all with more power than individual consumer-citizens. Plus, the damage will already have been done if/when some of them do continue the arms race. It continues in any case today. The protections you lay out for the future are US only (the web is not) and there are no guarantees. I'll continue to use all means necessary to prevent opaque commercialization of my online behavior.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/16750015/3089665211051226202/comments/default/5474732843581564123'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/16750015/3089665211051226202/comments/default/5474732843581564123'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://paranoia.dubfire.net/2009/03/benefits-of-using-opt-outs.html?showComment=1237922940000#c5474732843581564123' title=''/><author><name>Logical Extremes</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/16205094218526676523</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://paranoia.dubfire.net/2009/03/benefits-of-using-opt-outs.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16750015.post-3089665211051226202' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/16750015/posts/default/3089665211051226202' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
